Oatmeal for Breakfast?
On a cold winter’s day, there is nothing better than a hot breakfast meal. And oatmeal has health benefits. In my post of 12 Healthy Good Habits I have as number 5, eat a healthy specialized diet with lots of vegetables as a tip to follow. Oatmeal is a healthy grain to eat as part of a specialized diet.
Health Benefits of Oatmeal
Oatmeal is rich in fiber. It also offers improved heart health, better blood sugar control and weight management due to its rich fiber (especially beta-glucan) and nutrients. It keeps you feeling full longer, boosting gut health, and providing antioxidants. But you should avoid adding too much sugar. I use Stevia in my oatmeal when I eat it plain.
Enhancing Oatmeal for Improved Flavor
Some people prefer to add some more ingredients to their oatmeal to enhance its flavor. I’ve added walnuts and dried cranberries to my oatmeal before and I’ve liked it. I’ve added plain cocoa. And I’ve yet to try dried blueberries and pecans with it.
